Ravenel Bridge Collection

Images by Trey Hopkins

"Storm Flight"

This is one of my favorite images and is limited to 75 copies.   All limited Edition prints are archival framed Giclee prints which are signed and numbered and come with a certificate of authenticity and a lifetime warranty. This image was taken as hurricane Andrew brewed off the coast of Charleston.   These pelicans were flying into a solid headwind which tested the resolve of the recent efforts to preserve the Morris Island Lighthouse by the "Save the Light" foundation.   There is no mistaking how locals, tourists, and transplants all love this local icon that has stood the test of time against amazing odds.

"First Light"

Sometimes you have to simply look for the next right answer.   As Comet Neowise visited our skies there were a few days where it could be seen just before dawn.  Little did I know that the two days I tried were just after it had moved on and was only viewed in the evening.   No real complaints missing it though as the beach at sunrise is one of my favorite things in life and a sunrise at Folly Beach is always a path to peace.   This open edition will always have a special place for me, or anyone else who loves a good Folly Sunrise

"Untitled"

This iconic view of the Ravenel Bridge that crosses the Cooper River in Charleston is one of the most beautiful cable stay bridges I have ever seen.  This particular evening I was waiting to do some long exposures through dusk and could not resist capturing the Sun highlighting a sail boat enjoying a soft but steady breeze.    If you are visiting Charleston I would encourage you to take a trip to the Mt. Pleasant Pier and maybe even take a walk to the top of the Ravenel Bridge for an amazing view of Charleston's Harbor where the Ashely and Cooper Rivers flow together to form the Atlantic Ocean.  Charleston's Harbor has a rich history less than a half mile away from where I took this picture is where George Washington's ferry awaited his arrival to carry him and Eliza Lucas Pinckney with great fanfare to the peninsula of Charleston in 1791.

"A New Look"

On October 1, 2016 the Save the Light Foundation lit the Morris Island Lighthouse for the first time in decades!   This iconic lighthouse has always been special to Charleston and it was a privilege to capture this image as we cheered from the beach.   The lighthouse is frequently lit but cannot be left on as it is there is no power other than batteries.   Since that night the Save the Light Foundation has lit it many times but this will remain a special image for me as I had always dreamed of seeing it lit again and there is always something special about the first time.    This edition is limited to 50 prints and is only available framed.

This limited edition was taken from a helicopter in order to use the compression of a 200mm lens which is what gives the perspective of the Ravenel Bridge in the background being a bit closer.  This image is limited to only 50 prints and will be a nice addition to your lowcountry home. All limited edition prints are sold in frames to protect the image and it allows me to offer a warranty against craftsman defects, fading, or yellowing.   Also! make sure to visit Lowcountry Olive Oil in Downtown Charleston to see many more images for sale!

"Egret"

Not much to say about this common bird in the lowcountry, but the pic was fun to create.  This print stands out in any setting and is available in any size.

Old Sheldon Church

This is a composite of over 20 images but all were captured from the same location on the same night.   My tripod was set in the pitch dark as three candles lit a long exposure to capture the ruins of Old Sheldon Church.  The luxury of long exposures is not an option with the Galactic Core of the Milky Way so in order to create a sharper image at higher ISO settings I took a series of exposures that were later stacked and aligned for noise reduction.  This building was burned in the Revolutionary war and the War Between the States.
